Monkeys In Space has had our share of ups and downs over our tenure playing music together. Unfortunately, time and circumstance (and distance) has resulted in a few serious changes to the band.
My nonsensical path in life has lead me to Colorado Springs, CO and out of sheer stubbornness, I refuse to let all that we have built fade away. I have continued to work toward the release of our 2nd full-length album, Kill Your Past, and will see it come to fruition towards the end of this year. 10 years of MIS and Kill Your Past will be the one to put us on the map, I have no doubt.
All that being said, we have had to make some changes to the MIS roster to stay afloat. Filling out our rhythm section we would like to announce that Shawn Canela and Wiley Lowe will be replacing Ryan Higginson and Josh Smith. Much love to Ryan and Josh for all they have given me in this lifetime and I know this won’t be the last time we share a stage together.. but for now, onward and upward as we keep this train rolling.
We are booking shows in Colorado and surrounding states for this Winter and I assure you, with Shawn keeping the kit warm and Wiley funking up our bass- we will continue to bring a powerful and dynamic set to the stage. We look forward to seeing all of your faces in the pit and hope you will stay tuned.. the best is yet to come.
One of the first songs ever written in our sweaty 8×8 practice studio we called the Box. For those of you that know you are coming up on a win.. We give you SOLDIER. Check out 5 other new singles from Monkeys In Space on the youtube channel at youtube.com/baddestmonkeyrawk or anywhere else music is sold or streamed.
Listen to SOLDIER now here: https://youtu.be/cJ5GRawOLzA
Due to the fact that we are self-producing this record, it is a taking much longer than we had hoped to finish. For that reason, or perhaps a last ditch effort to remain relevant, we will continue to release new singles 1 x 1 until the album is finished, which, with just a few songs left to go, will be released by the end of 2018.
Keep listening and will keep rocking!
From Space to your Face- we will see all of you soon!

Monkeys In Space have just release their latest single off of the upcoming summer 2017 release Kill Your Past.
Consumer is a song forour times- the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.. Consumer delves into the consciousness of a man torn apart buy societies expectations- the rampant consumerism that every family in America now wields, where the lines of wants and needs are drastically blurred, how is a middle class man suppose to provide for his family in a world where a yearly $500 phone purchase has now become the new norm..
This is a good man, a hardworking man who provides for his family.. but with wants now outweighing needs in our society you have three choices: grin, bare it, work your fingers to the bone to buy that new iPhone, envelop your family is massive credit card debt, or cheat, steal, lie or die- hopefully one of those three jobs you have will provide some sort of life insurance benefits, right?
I assure you, the song is not as grim as the story behind it makes it sound! Check it out here: Please leave us some love and be sure to keep an eye out for Kill Your Past- Slated for Summer 2017 release, Finally!

So- Monkeys In Space have been promising new music and a resurgence in the scene for sometime .. We have an 18+ song record in the can and have just been.. well dealing with LIFE… too much to get our project back off the ground.
I am proud to say that we finally, and for real this time.. are back in the full swing of things and we will be releasing a brand new single called “Consumer” in February 2017- a song that sums up where our heads have been for sometime. We will be posting a new show date soon- an acoustic set in Los Angeles, CA mid-February.. We hope to see all of our old friends!
Much Love and thank you for all of your continued support,
Johnny Rukkus & Monkeys In Space

Monkeys – are you kidding me?! As if we didn’t have enough reasons to love Dave. This guy falls off the stage in Sweden, breaks his leg, actually APOLOGIZES to the audience, goes and gets a cast, comes back and finishes the show. What a legend. We love you, Dave. We fuckin love you.
Monkeys! It’s been a long time a’comin, but we finally released a new song off of our new album “Kill Your Past.” We are proud to introduce “Blackout,” a high-energy power-pop rock song that screams “f**k you” to corporate media – the 24 hour non-news cycle that aims to distract our minds and redirect our hearts to things that plain don’t. matter. Oh, Everybody’s Talkin’ alright, and it’s about time we stop talking and start SHOUTING.
“They say we’re tearing apart at the seams. That’s not what I see, I still believe in WE.”
We are all Monkeys.
F**k it’s good to be back. See you all soon.
