Our First Radio Interview – FM 94.9 SD

A few weeks back we got invited down to the studio to debut our new song “Roses” LIVE on the air with FM 94.9′s Tim Pyles. Tim has been a huge supporter of the band for some time now, and decided to bring the kids in for a little promo. Can’t thank him enough for the opportunity.. San Diego got a little of what’s to come off of the upcoming “People Pleasing” record, along with one of our favorites, “Supermodel Suitcase.” Check out the interview below. Hopefully this won’t be the last time we make it on the air… What do you think?

Get on Top, No We Won’t Stop

Well, well Monkeys – it’s been a while since our last update, so I thought I’d drop by and let you all know what’s been going on within this rocket ship of ours. For those of you who don’t know, we got a new bass player. His name is Tony – “Tony the tone man,” as we like to call him. Kerp decided to move on to pursue other opportunities, but we all remain very close. He is a Monkey for life!

After Flying Under the Influence was released, we generated some pretty good buzz. All of you seemed to respond to the record with nothing but positivity, which we were so happy to hear. We pushed and pushed online, grew our networks and even earned the ears of a few radio programs here in Southern California. When the tone-man jumped on, we added a new dimension to our LIVE act, which continues to be the baddest fucking rock show around – period. We took a few trips up the coast, including an adventure to San Francisco for the 4th of July. That trip was incredible. We went from getting picked up in a limousine at 4am one night, to getting kicked off the trolley in China Town the next. We spent the 4th on the rooftops playing music, drinking beer, and watching fireworks go off over the bay. We brought it to San Fran, and they loved us.

Recently, we haven’t really had much free time (the main reason this website hasn’t been updated in so long). We’re moving out of our house, the original Monkey Manor, and are headed west toward the beach – Pacific Beach, to be specific. For anyone that knows us, it’s safe to say we’re each a little “wound up” in our own right. The past six months have been filled with ups and downs, good shows and bad, and our personal lives have taken some major hits. We lost another beloved friend, Preston, and the event of his death left us all with that “why the fuck are we still doing the same shit” feeling. We understand the value of this life and REFUSE to waste another moment pursuing anything but what we love – and that, for us Monkeys, is rock n’ roll. So, step 1: Move to the beach.

We’re also back in the studio, recording what we believe to be our best music yet. With our limited resources, we are once again tracking/producing the record by ourselves – which actually works out, because no one knows this music better than us and we’re not too open to outsiders telling us how to do our own thing. Not yet, at least. We’re going on tour soon, which is a giant leap of faith with the potential to be yet another crushing blow to our esteem. But whatever happens with that will happen; we’ve still got the music.

Step 2: Record the new record.

Once we get back from the tour, we’re going to work to promote the album, which currently remains nameless. We’ve grown a lot from Flying Under the Influence, learning ways to be channel our music effectively from prior success and failure. Throughout everything, there remains one constant – YOU. We cannot do this without you. What we are trying to do is bigger than ourselves, bigger than this band. Rock n’ roll is still breathing – we can see it in your faces.

We’ve also recently been hit with an excess amount of, what the rap game likes to call, “haters.” You know, the people that consistently throw negativity your direction because they’re unsatisfied with their own lives, careers, etc. For example, a hater might read this blog entry and, based on its tone, immediately dismiss M.i.$. as arrogant, wannabee rock stars who take themselves way too seriously. When in fact, we systematically choose to represent ourselves with confidence, personality and, to steal another word from the rappers, swagger, as best we can. We are genuine, honest people, and are grateful for every day we get to play music. Anyone who knows us, knows that and we owe all of this to our friends, families and fans. And to all of you deuschers – just know, from the bottom of our hearts – we. do. not. care.

“Get on top, no we won’t stop.”

Rock on,

M.i.$.

Whi$key Kings

Whiskey Kings is a brand new track we conjured up and the first “single” off of our newest “album” we’re currently in the process of destroying down here in the hood. The message is pretty clear – we’ve done our time, we’ve paid our respects, now get out the way.

And to all of you monkeys out there… rise up, young blood..

Monkeys Take Over Studio West in San Diego to Record Newest Single, “Self-Addressed”

ATTENTION, MONKEYS! We came to point where we needed somethin fresh for our army of monkiacs (works, eh?). So, we stumbled on over to studio west and, with enIMa of the $tate on the on the wall and rock n roll in our veins we laid down our ROCK tune, “Self-Addressed.” This melodic, intense, aggrevated song hits us where we’ve all been.. where many of us still are – strugglin to keep afloat while your shit’s pullin you down. Try this: line up whatever you got goin on in 5-6 empty bottles about waist high, grab an aluminum big barrel and right around the bridge, start swingin.

Stay up, Monkeys… Enjoy.

M.I.$. Takes Over the Viper Room in Hollywood!!

We came, we drank, we rocked!

So, our first appearance at the famous Viper Room in Hollywood, CA was about what we expected. We got up to LA early, met up with Bravo’s cuz and did us some drinkin! About the time we got on stage, all the Monkeys were feelin pretttttyyy good 😉 The show went ok, we rocked out to a room full of about 15 people, all wondering what the hell it was they were witnessing! But, we had a great time, got ourselves on the Marquee on Sunset Blvd., and look forward to packin that house sometime very soon. Thank you, Hollywood.
